About
Built for the people who live here
Found ChCh is a map-first guide to eating and drinking in Ōtautahi Christchurch — 397bars, cafes, restaurants and takeaways across every suburb, on one map. Open it, see what’s near you, see what’s actually open, go.
It exists because the city’s good spots deserve better than a ten-year-old review site or an ad-ranked search page. The chippy that’s been quietly excellent for a decade sits on the same map as the new wine bar — found the same way you’d hear about them from a mate.
How places get on
Every venue is picked by hand. Nobody pays to be listed, and nobody pays to rank — a “Locals’ pick” badge means we rate the place, nothing else. If somewhere closes or goes downhill, it comes off. Know a spot that belongs here? Use the Submit button in the header.
Keeping it current
Stale listings are how a guide loses your trust, so this one gets checked like it matters. Every venue is verified weekly against live data — closures get flagged the Monday after they happen, and a human confirms each one before anything disappears. Hours, phone numbers and prices are refreshed monthly.
Reviews here are our own, written by locals. We never republish scores or reviews from other platforms.
Who’s behind it
Found ChCh is made in Christchurch by Ben F — a local who got tired of “best restaurants” lists written from somewhere else. It’s independent, self-funded, and built to stay useful rather than to sell you anything.
Spotted something wrong — hours off, a closure we’ve missed? Every venue page has a report link. It goes straight to a human.
Start with the map, browse by neighbourhood, or cut straight to the good stuff in the guides.
