A proper bakery inside Riverside Market — long-fermented sourdough and French pastries, the croissants and pain au chocolat through to the seasonal galettes, milled from grain grown around Canterbury. Get there earlyish; the good stuff doesn't hang around on a weekend. Also at the Tannery and Merivale if the central one's mobbed.
